Arvid Lindblad was unable to take part in the Miami sprint race after a technical issue curtailed his event.
The Racing Bulls driver ended Friday's sprint qualifying session in 16th place, ahead of team-mate Liam Lawson.
However, he was demoted on the starting grid and forced into the pit lane due to an infringement from the Red Bull sister team.
But Lindblad was unable to even take the start as a technical issue arose as they prepared for the start.
The rookie driver was the second competitor who failed to take the start as Nico Hulkenberg's Audi suffered a dramatic engine failure on his reconnaissance laps.
