Antonio Felix da Costa has opened up about the timing of his first win since moving to Jaguar TCS Racing in Formula E, following victory in Jeddah.
Da Costa secured the win in the second race of Formula E’s Jeddah double-header, in what was just his fifth race since moving to the British manufacturer from Porsche.
The Season 6 champion has looked quick ever since making his move to the Big Cat, but had been missing a big result.
That came with an impressive strategic display at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit, where he calculated the timing of his first Attack Mode and move into the lead to perfection.
In all conditions, da Costa has looked fast, to the extent that, while he sits 29 points behind former team-mate Pascal Wehrlein, the 34-year-old has a real shot at being involved in the title fight.
Discussing his win, da Costa told RacingNews365 during an interview: "It's a good achievement, 100%. Changing teams, it's a very difficult task.
"I've said that before, but we've put in the hours, we've put in the work. I got a great crew of people around me, and that really helps and speeds things up.
"To be fully honest with you, if you told me before the season that I'll win a race after five races, I would sign that. But seeing how we've been performing from Sao Paulo, it could have come sooner.
"So, I'm an ambitious athlete. I always want more and and all that. But yeah, things haven't been going our way, not in terms of pace. We've been qualifying up front every round, but just not being able to capitalise on that pace, most of it from others hitting us.
"But I was happy to have a clean weekend with no crashes, no touches, two top fives, a win in there. So we just need to perform like this to the end, and then we'll be there to fight for it."
