The Andretti F1 project has officially changed its name following a switch in leadership ahead of the proposed entry for 2026.

Last month, F1 confirmed its intent to allow a new team to join the grid in just over one year's time when new technical regulations come into play.

The plan was originally spearheaded by former F1 driver Michael Andretti, who received the support of General Motors (GM) who pledged to join as a power unit supplier in 2028.

However, the bid was originally rejected by F1 despite approval from the FIA - but Andretti was invited to try again in 2028 when GM was ready to field an engine.

The project accelerated towards a 2026 entry when Andretti stepped away from an ownership role of the proposed team.

Dan Towriss took over at the helm and it soon emerged that the GM-led entry had been granted approval to join in 2026 under the Cadillac branch.

Official documents on Companies House detail that the company has now changed its name to Cadillac Formula Racing Limited.

Up until December 13, it had been operating as Andretti Racing Limited.

The F1 outfit itself is set to be called Cadillac F1 Team.

Cadillac's team has taken further shape in recent weeks as it announced Graeme Lowdon as its team principal.

It also confirmed that Ferrari will issue the 11th F1 squad with power units and gearboxes on a multi-year deal.

However, this may only be a stopgap until General Motors completes the construction of its own power unit, with 2028 initially marked as the debut year.
