Fernando Alonso has shared his view of how Cadillac will take to life in F1, something he has warned is "never an easy task" to take on.

Fernando Alonso expects Cadillac F1 to be "well prepared" to enter the championship at the start of the 2026 season.

The Aston Martin driver stated that despite starting a new team in F1 not being an "easy task", General Motors (GM) "have the right people" to succeed.

A number of staff involved in the Cadillac project, including Pat Symonds, worked alongside the 43-year-old when he claimed his two F1 drivers' championships with Renault in 2005 and 2006.

Together with team-mate Giancarlo Fisichella, the Spaniard helped Team Enstone to the constructors' title in both seasons.

"For the team personnel, they have a couple of people from the Renault days," the Aston Martin driver said to media including RacingNews365.

"For sure they will have a huge contribution right now at the very early part of the project, with a lot of experience in Formula 1 and in the sport.

"I wish the best of luck. A new team is never an easy task, but I think they will be well prepared and they have the right people. So, welcome."

Alonso supports 'complex decision' to admit Cadillac F1

If the plans for Cadillac to expand the F1 grid in 2026 come to fruition, it will be the first time in a decade the paddock has housed more than 10 teams.

Alonso has backed the decision for F1 to support the project - which was rejected under its previous, Andretti-led guise - and the growth of the grid back to 11 teams.

"Eleventh team, 22 drivers, it’s not the first time that we will be 22 on the grid," the 32-time grand prix winner mused.

"It's a complex decision for the sport in general, but if they came to that conclusion it's because it's the best for everybody. I will support always whatever management thinks is the best."
