Alfa Romeo conducted a one-day shakedown of their new C42 in Italy on Tuesday, ahead of pre-season testing. Heading to Ferrari's private track at Fiorano, Alfa Romeo sent new signing Valtteri Bottas out in the cold, damp conditions to complete 100 kilometres of track running as the team cashed in one of their two permitted annual filming days. The car was bedecked in a special camouflage livery to hide the details of their new design, which is due to be revealed to the world on 27 February – two days after the conclusion of the first pre-season test in Spain. No pictures of the outing have been made public by Alfa Romeo. In attendance to watch Bottas' first laps with the C42 was team boss Frederic Vasseur, Technical Director Jan Monchaux, and the team's rookie driver, Guanyu Zhou.
