Albon linked with Formula E switch

The former Red Bull Formula 1 driver is in contention to make a move to Formula E next year.

Nissan have confirmed that Alexander Albon is under consideration for a move to Formula E for next season as they search for a replacement for Oliver Rowland who will leave the team after the current campaign ends in Berlin. Albon, who was left without a seat in F1 this year, is racing in DTM and was initially meant to race for Nissan in Formula E before Toro Rosso called him up just before the start of the 2019 F1 season. Two years on, Albon might drive with the team he tested with in 2018. "Obviously he [Albon] is amongst the ones we are considering and he kept contact with us so we are talking regularly,” said Nissan team manager Francois Sicard to The Race. “He’s following what we do, so we are very close to Alex and he could be amongst the one we can select. But there are others and you have to know that Alex might have also other opportunities.” Other drivers are in contention for a seat and a decision could be made as early as August as to who drivers alongside Sebastien Buemi at Nissan in 2022.
