2026 Formula E drivers
Who is driving in Formula E in 2026? A number of new drivers will make it onto the 2026 Formula E grid, as well as many returning favourites. But who should you keep your eye on in the new season?

The 2026 Formula E World Championship will see 10 teams and 20 drivers compete in the highest class of competition for electric open-wheel racing cars that is recognised by the FIA.
Last season, Oliver Rowland claimed the world championship for the first time in the Nissan Formula E Team car, while the Porsche Formula E team clinched the teams' championship – it also won the manufacturers' title.
In order to get you up to date for the 2026 campaign, here's a closer look at the 20 drivers that will take the grid.
Ones to watch
Oliver Rowland - The reigning world champion has chosen to run the #1 for his title defence. Jean-Eric Vergne is the only driver in the history of Formula E to have ever defended their title, something Rowland hopes to achieve. He was dominant last season, and will be targeting a repeat in this campaign.
Pascal Wehrlein - After failing to defend his 2024 drivers' title, Pascal Wehrlein will be hoping to return to the top with Porsche, while also help the team defend its teams' and manufacturers' crowns. He faced some misfortune in his attempt to become a two-time champion, but will be targeting another crack at the championship.
Nick Cassidy - Formula E has undergone a crazy silly season, with Nick Cassidy having moved from Jaguar to new outfit Citroën. It is a fresh start for the New Zealander who finished second last season, following a staggering late charge. Racing for a new team represents a different challenge, but the target will remain to be in the title fight.
Taylor Barnard - Formula E's most successful rookie enters his second campaign in the series, having moved to DS Penske after McLaren left the series. After a stunning maiden year, eyes will be on the Briton to see if he can exceed last season's achievements.
Familiar faces to F1 fans
Jean-Eric Vergne - Jean-Eric Vergne spent three seasons in Formula 1 between 2012 and 2014 but, after losing his Toro Rosso seat at the end of that year, he turned his attentions to all things electric. Vergne is the only man to have won the Formula E title twice and joins Cassidy at Citroën
Sebastien Buemi - Interestingly, Buemi lost his F1 seat to Vergne back in 2011, after the Swiss driver himself spent three seasons in the sport with Toro Rosso. The comparisons don't end there, as Buemi has also won the Formula E championship back in 2016. Overall, the 36-year-old has 14 wins in the series to his name, and will again race for Envision Racing in 2026.
Nyck de Vries - The 2021 Formula E world champion spent 10 races in F1 competing for AlphaTauri in 2023, before returning to the all-electric series with Mahindra the following year. He has improved since making his comeback, and claimed multiple podiums last season.
Lucas di Grassi - The Brazilian, Vergne and Buemi are the only three drivers remaining in the series who have competed in Formula E since the very beginning, back in 2014. Di Grassi claimed the 2015 title, and raced for Virgin Racing in 2010. The veteran is entering his second year for Lola Yamaha ABT.
New Formula E drivers for 2026
Felipe Drugovich - 2022 Formula 2 champion Felipe Drugovich has made the move to Andretti as a Formula E driver for 2026. The Brazilian spent three years as Aston Martin F1's reserve, but decided it was time to leave the sidelines. He has had a small taste of Formula E, across several rookie tests and last season's two races in Berlin, where he replaced de Vries.
Pepe Marti - One of the most exciting additions to the grid is 20-year-old Spaniard Pepe Marti, who will partner Dan Ticktum at Cupra Kiro. Marti quit F2 to switch to Formula E, with him having also left the Red Bull Junior programme.
Joel Eriksson - While not officially a rookie, Joel Eriksson will hold a full-time seat in Formula E for the first time after replacing Robin Frijns at Envision. Eriksson has spent the last couple of years working as Jaguar's reserve, but did enter eight races in 2021 for Dragon/Penske Autosport. In addition, he replaced Frijns in Berlin in 2024.
