Max Verstappen denied George Russell a moment of personal F1 history after setting the fastest time in final practice for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
After topping the timesheet at the end of FP1 and FP2 at the Baku City Circuit on Thursday, Mercedes driver Russell came close to completing a clean sweep for what would have been the first time in his 167th race weekend.
Instead, the four-time F1 champion posted a time of one minute 43.922s late on, finishing just 0.099s ahead of Russell. It was the first time this season Verstappen has topped an FP3.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton managed to get a major tow along the main straight at the death to finish third quickest, 0.111s behind Verstappen.
