Laurens Van Hoepen has taken pole position for the Montreal Formula 2 sprint race.
The Trident driver left it late to set a blistering time and beat Rafael Camara to the top spot.
Alex Dunne was forced to settle for third on the road, but narrowly edged out championship leader Nikola Tsolov.
Trident's strong result was backed up by a run to seventh for John Bennett.
It was a session to forget for Colton Herta, as the former IndyCar driver could only set the 21st fastest time of the session.
