Kush Maini comfortably won the F2 sprint race at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix, taking the chequered flag 7.2 seconds ahead of Gabriele Mini.
Colton Herta lost his first podium in Formula 2 after a mistake on the final lap, as he works towards attaining his FIA Super Licence, which would make him eligible to race in F1.
Mini's championship rival Nikola Tsolov inherited that third position after fighting off Noel Leon and Rafael Camara in the dying moments before Herta's error, which he branded "unacceptable" over team radio.
The heartbreak was caused when he was chasing down Mini heading into Turn 5, with the former IndyCar driver locking his tyres, going off track.
Multiple incidents in the closing stages involving Herta, Mini and Tsolov were noted by the stewards after a spirited fight for the podium places.
