Richard Verschoor secured victory in the F2 sprint race at the Qatar Grand Prix, leading Joshua Durksen home by just under a second.
Rafael Villagomez completed the podium positions after the 23-lap race under the lights of the Lusail International Circuit, after outlasting Nikola Tsolov in a last-lap scrap, causing the latter to tumble down the order on his F2 debut.
Sebastian Montoya and Alex Dunne rounded out the top five, ahead of Leonardo Fornaroli, who inches closer to back-to-back support paddock championships.
Martinius Stenshorne and Jak Crawford, who is second in the standings, clinched the final two points-paying places.
On lap 14, James Wharton, who will race in F3 again next season, was forced into retirement — by his team-mate Laurens van Hoepen — on his F2 debut, which will be investigated after the race.
It triggered a safety car and a flurry of action in the pit lane, as many of the runners lower down the order opted for fresh soft-compound rubber.
Before the race got back underway on lap 16, Kush Maini pulled over with an apparent technical issue, ending his evening.
Arvid Lindblad was noted for a pit lane infringement, which will be another post-race penalty.
Cian Shields spun out, becoming the third retirement of the race. It brought the safety car out for the second time, with only three laps to go. The race resumed with one final lap left to run.
