2025 F1 Monaco Grand Prix - Driver Ratings

Despite a new mandatory two pit-stop rule, it was a lacklustre Monaco Grand Prix which was excellently won by Lando Norris. 

Unsurprisingly, the McLaren driver tops our ratings from the Circuit de Monaco, with him having cut Oscar Piastri's championship lead down to just three points.

Home hero Charles Leclerc and Piastri secored second and third, whilst Mercedes suffered a disastrous event – how has this impacted its ratings?

The top five

Lando Norris - 10

A perfect '10' is a rarity at RacingNews365, but what else can you give a driver who broke the track record – the first sub 70-second lap – to secure pole and converted it into victory? It was a phenomenal weekend for Norris, who now has crucial momentum ahead of Barcelona. 

Charles Leclerc - 8.5

Charles Leclerc and Ferrari entered Monaco fearing the worst, yet after the Monegasque topped every practice session it became clear that back-to-back victories was possible. Effectively, it took a lap record to deny Leclerc pole and, ultimately, the win, in what was his best performance of the year. 

Isack Hadjar - 8.5

Red Bull has a serious talent on its hands in the form of Isack Hadjar, who must be a certainty for a future seat alongside Max Verstappen. A personal-best result of sixth is an exceptional result for the French-Algerian, who recovered from a messy Friday to deliver good points yet again.

Esteban Ocon - 8.5

It was an equally exceptional performance from Haas' Esteban Ocon, who brilliantly secured eighth on the grid and went on to finish seventh. The Haas has been a funny car this year; when it works, it really excels, when it doesn't, it badly struggles.

Liam Lawson - 8

Finally, Liam Lawson had a race to remember this season after what has been a torrid campaign for the New Zealander. A Q3 performance and a P8 marked his best qualifying and race result of 2025, giving him a platform to now build on from.

The bottom five

George Russell - 4

George Russell has endured back-to-back grands prix to completely forget, with zero points having been scored in Monaco. A technical problem in qualifying ruined his weekend, although Mercedes' package was not looking strong regardless. 

Pierre Gasly 3.5

Pierre Gasly had a horrid Monaco, with a Q1 elimination and an early collision with Yuki Tsunoda ending his grand prix. Gasly went into the back of Tsunoda in the Nouvelle chicane, a clash which was entirely his fault. A poor performance by Gasly, although Alpine also struggled massively.

Yuki Tsunoda - 3.5

Time must be running out for Tsunoda? Not only was he eliminated in Q2 yet again, but he was the only Red Bull family driver not to score points. What makes matters worse is the Japanese driver looked better in practice, only to deliver a poor performance in qualifying.

Kimi Antonelli - 3

After such a strong start to the season, mistakes are starting to creep in for Kimi Antonelli. A crash at the Nouvelle chicane at the end of Q1 ended any hope of a good weekend, and instead leaving him with more lessons to learn after an equally difficult Imola.

Lance Stroll - 3

It's a very similar story for Lance Stroll, who was the stronger Aston Martin driver in the opening rounds. However, his form has taken a dive in recent events, with him having picked up a four-place grid penalty following two incidents in Monaco. Losing almost the entirety of FP1 after causing a collision with Leclerc was a pivotal moment of his weekend.
