Paul Aron of Hitech Pulse-Eight took pole position for the F2 feature race at the Hungaroring, ahead of Van Amersfoort Racing driver Enzo Fittipaldi and championship leader Isack Hadjar of Campos Racing.
His team-mate, Pepe Marti, brought out red flag with just over 19 minutes to run of the half-hour session. The Spanish driver replicated his free practice spin at Turn 11 and could not get his car running again, bringing an end to his session.
Fourth and fifth position went to Gabriel Bortoleto and Victor Martins respectively, with Dennis Hauger, Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Zane Maloney, Kush Maini and Richard Verschoor rounded out the top 10 in Budapest.
Due to the top 10 being reversed for the F2 sprint race, the latter two drivers will start the Saturday race at the Hungarian Grand Prix on the front row.
