Lando Norris secured Brazilian Grand Prix sprint victory after overtaking Oscar Piastri in the closing stages
Piastri had led the entirety of the sprint from pole position, but was instructed to let his McLaren team-mate past on lap 22/24.
McLaren were set to wait for the final lap; however, a yellow flag for Nico Hulkenberg grinding to a halt panicked the Woking-based team.
It proved a smart move, as a virtual safety car was triggered moments later. Championship leader Max Verstappen secured the final spot on the sprint podium, limiting the damage to his lead in the F1 drivers' title.
Charles Leclerc finished fourth, whilst Carlos Sainz completed the top five.
Update: Verstappen was later demoted to fourth, with Leclerc elevated to the podium, after the Red Bull driver was found guilty for a VSC infringement and handed a five-second time penalty after the race.
The Dutchman undercut the minimum delta time by a little over six-tenths of a second as he applied pressure to Piastri prior to the restart on the final lap.
