Oscar Piastri claimed pole for the sprint at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix, beating Lando Norris by less than three-hundredths of a second.
The McLaren driver set a lap time of 1:08.899 at Interlagos, the only circuit to hold a sprint every season since the format was first introduced in 2021.
Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz will line up third, fourth and fifth, respectively.
George Russell, Pierre Gasly, Liam Lawson, Alexander Albon and Oliver Bearman rounded out the top 10 and are best positioned to fight for one of the eight points-paying places in the sprint.
Lewis Hamilton and Sergio Perez were both eliminated early, failing to reach Q3. They will line-up P11 and P13.
