Lando Norris topped a red flag-hit first practice for the Australian Grand Prix as a number of drivers struggled in the opening session of the weekend.
The McLaren driver set a benchmark of a 1:18.564 to finish just 0.018secs faster than Red Bull's Max Verstappen.
George Russell was third fastest for Mercedes ahead of Ferrari's Charles Leclerc and RB's Yuki Tsunoda.
The second Red Bull of Sergio Perez was sixth ahead of Lance Stroll for Aston Martin and the returning Carlos Sainz, who has recovered from surgery to remove his appendix.
Lewis Hamilton was ninth in the second Mercedes having been off on his first flying lap following the red flag, with Australian Oscar Piastri rounding out the top 10, within four-tenths of his teammate.
