Max Verstappen set the pace during Free Practice 1 at the Canadian Grand Prix, with a lap time nearly half a second faster than teammate Sergio Perez.
The Dutch driver set a lap of 1:15.158 on the Soft tyre – but was only 0.4 seconds faster than Fernando Alonso, who set the lap of the session on the Medium compound.
Ferrari were hot on Red Bull's heels, with Carlos Sainz in P2 and Charles Leclerc in P5.
The Mercedes looked to be the next quickest car, and Aston Martin also appeared in the fight for big points, as Sebastian Vettel and Lance Stroll both placed inside the top 10.
