McLaren's Lando Norris claimed pole position for the Russian Grand Prix, beating Carlos Sainz and George Russell to top spot.

Despite fears the session could be moved to Sunday, qualifying took place as scheduled as the rain eased up. Norris' time of 1:41.993 on his final lap proved too much for the rest of the grid, with Sainz finishing a full 0.517 seconds back.

Russell clocked the third-fastest time, while Lewis Hamilton and Daniel Ricciardo rounded out the top five positions.
