Reigning Formula E world champion Pascal Wehrlein is to make his debut in the Daytona 24 Hours in 2025.

Porsche driver Wehrlein won three races last season to claim a maiden FE title, and will head to Florida to take on the twice-around-the-clock endurance classic on January 25/26th.

He is to drive the #85 Porsche 963 alongside Dutchman Tijmen van der Helm and American Bryce Aron, with FE team-mate Antonio Felix da Costa also set to compete.

Wehrlein, who was a Mercedes junior in F1 and raced for Manor in 2016 and Sauber in 2017 will head from the FE Mexico City round to Daytona for the "Roar before the 24" tests prior to the race itself.

The German racer's title defence in FE got off to a rocky start after being tipped upside down during the Sao Paulo season-opener although he emerged without injury after checks.

“I've always wanted to drive sports cars – that's one of my goals as a racing driver," Wehrlein said.

"Now I have the opportunity to prove myself there too. I'm very happy about that The test drives with JDC-Miller MotorSports in mid-November went well.

"The Porsche 963 reminded me of the DTM cars of my time – I felt comfortable. I'm currently recovering from my accident in São Paulo, but I want to get back to full speed in January."
