Toto Wolff has joked that Christian Horner's lengthy spell as Team Principal of Red Bull should mean he is soon set to quit F1.

Wolff made the comments during the Team Principals' press conference ahead of the Miami Grand Prix, where AlphaTauri team boss Franz Tost was also present.

It was announced last month that Tost would leave AlphaTauri at the end of this season after 18 years in the role, having led the team since its inception in late 2005 under the Toro Rosso banner.

Horner has also been at the helm at Red Bull since the beginning, joining the squad in January 2005, and while paying tribute to Tost's career, Wolff mischievously suggested that Horner should be next in line to step down.

"[Tost and I] are obviously both Austrians, [and] we have a past where we started racing on the old Osterreichring, both instructors in the same racing school, but we missed each other by a few years," Wolff told media, including RacingNews365.com, before addressing Tost and Horner directly.

"Are you [Tost] the longest standing, or are you [Horner] the longest standing team principal? [To Horner] Okay, so you’re next in line to quit – that would make life easier!"
