Toto Wolff has issued a New Year's message from Mercedes ahead of 2022, which appears to be a veiled vow to fight back towards championship glory next season. Having been beaten to the Drivers' Championship by Red Bull, Mercedes initially fell silent on social media but have since resumed their normal posting. In the final days of 2021, the team have paid tribute to the departing Valtteri Bottas as the Finn heads off to Alfa Romeo after five years with Mercedes, while Wolff himself made an appearance to issue a message for the New Year. "Hi everyone. So this is a wrap, 2021 is finished," Wolff said in the video posted to Mercedes' social channels. "There were some highs, there were some lows. There was some glory and some drama but, at the end, this is how it feels to be alive. "So I wish you a wonderful New Year's Eve, and happy 2022! Onwards and upwards..." While Wolff has resumed public appearances, Lewis Hamilton has refrained from them and maintained his silence on social media since the dramatic season finale in Abu Dhabi. However, his brother Nicolas has issued an update on how Hamilton has been in the weeks since his last-gasp defeat to Max Verstappen in the title chase.
