Wolff: Mercedes lacking pace everywhere

Max Verstappen secured pole position at the French Grand Prix for Red Bull, with Sir Lewis Hamilton three tenths slower than the Dutchman in second.

Toto Wolff has said that Mercedes need to improve across the board after the team lagged behind the Red Bull of Max Verstappen in qualifying. Sir Lewis Hamilton was three tenths behind Verstappen in second, and the Mercedes cars had struggled to keep up with the Dutchman across the weekend on a track the team have previously dominated. And Wolff told Sky Sports after the qualifying session that the team were simply lacking the pace to compete with Hamilton's championship rival. "It's a difficult weekend because we are just lacking the pace, that is the truth," Wolff said. "It looked much worse than in the end where we ended up, but we just need to gain everywhere. There is not one part that we are not looking at in order to improve our game."
