Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris have just 10 rounds separating one of them from their first F1 drivers' championship, and with the McLaren team-mate split by just nine points, the title fight is delicately balanced.
The former leads the latter and has been the more consistent of the two across the opening 14 weekends of the year, but the British driver is generally accepted to be slightly quicker at this stage of their careers.
In recent events, Norris has cut Piastri's advantage from 22 points down to the single-digit figure it is over the F1's summer break.
When the championship returns at the Dutch Grand Prix in late August, it will likely be a winner-takes-all rush to the finish line in Abu Dhabi, with a maximum of 274 points still on offer.
To ensure himself the title, Norris must take 10 more than the Australian. One fewer and it will be determined by the greatest number of victories - Piastri leads six to five in that category - and eight or fewer will see the 25-year-old finish runner-up for the second season in succession.
With Max Verstappen 97 and 88 points adrift of the McLaren pair, respectively, the Red Bull driver is almost certainly no longer a factor in the championship equation.
Although the Dutchman, along with George Russell, could make things difficult for the papaya pair if they can take points away from them.
But, the biggest question remains: Which of the Woking squad's drivers will score the most points over the final 10 rounds of the F1 season?
