Former Red Bull F1 driver Daniil Kvyat is continuing to push for a full-time seat in Formula E, following a recent 30-minute outing in the Jeddah rookie session for DS Penske.
Kvyat has hinted that he is likely to return for the one-day rookie test at the Tempelhof Airport Circuit after the Berlin E-Prix, in what will be a time where driver change rumours will be flowing at their finest.
He has focused primarily on Lamborghini's Hypercar programme in recent years, with him currently competing for the iconic Italian manufacturer in the IMSA GTP category. If a move to FE ever materialised, he would be very keen to have a duel programme to continue with Lamborghini.
Kvyat is continuing to be impressed by the all-electric series and the direction it is heading in, increasing his eagerness to push for a seat.
"Yes, I enjoyed the very short outing [in Jeddah]," Kvyat told RacingNews365 during an interview.
"I think there will be another longer outing post-Berlin, so we'll get to play with the car and understand the car a bit more there. But the initial feeling was positive.
"I think this series is moving in an interesting direction, in the right direction, and the cars are always more and more fun to drive."
'Always interested' in Formula E
The 31-year-old has not raced in a single-seater category since his F1 exit from AlphaTauri in 2020, with his career having turned completely towards hypercars, the World Endurance Championship and IMSA.
A NASCAR Xfinity Series appearance was also made last year. Despite this, he still feels like he has more to give to motorsport and believes his experience could prove valuable to any FE team open to giving him a seat.
"Obviously, yes, I have a lot of competitive spirit in me," added Kvyat. "Still a lot to give. And obviously, yeah, Formula E is something which also looks like a very different philosophy of racing, where maybe newcomers obviously have a lot to learn, but the principles of driving are very similar in the end.
"And obviously, if you are a strong driver who can learn, I think you can also make a difference there. So it's a very good category, and it's one of the top ones and the driver lineup is extremely strong."
As mentioned, Kvyat recognises the possibility of racing in FE alongside his Lamborghini position, a role he views as his priority.
"Obviously, my main job is with Lamborghini, and I'm always giving my absolute best to that project because I was there since day zero," explained Kvyat. "Of course, we have had plenty of ups and downs, but it doesn't mean that we cannot bring back the growth.
"So of course, I'm dedicating myself fully to that. Of course, I'm always interested in looking at Formula E, for example, at the same time exploring, always the opportunities for the future.
"I mean, why not? And also the two series they can co-exist. So obviously, I am interested in fighting for wins and strong positions, and I'm very open this time of the year. There is a lot of open conversations."
