WATCH: Is this the most unsafe pit release ever?

The scary crash happened during a GT World Challenge race at Brands Hatch in the pit lane.

The pit lane can be a very dangerous place in motorsport, not least because of oncoming cars in the fast lane.

Often drivers will need to be signalled that there is a clear lane before exiting their pit box, but it appears this was not the case in a GT World Challenge race at Brands Hatch this weekend.

The Honda NSX GT3 driven by Erwin Zanotti collides with Erwan Bastard in the Audi R8 LMS evo II, after the former was released by his team into the fast lane without checking the oncoming traffic.

Lucky nobody was injured in the crash, but it serves as a reminder of how unsafe conditions can get if procedures are not properly followed.
