Vettel needs an exorcism according to Hill

Former F1 world champion, Damon Hill thinks Aston Martin driver Sebastian Vettel needs to see a mystic after the German's performance at the 2021 Bahrain Grand Prix.

Former Williams driver and the 1996 Formula 1 world champion, Damon Hill thinks Sebastian Vettel needs to shake an "evil spirit." Aston Martin driver Vettel has so far endured a torrid time in his new environment. The German suffered issues during the preseason test, meaning he had limited running to get accustomed to the AMR 21 F1 car and has already accumulated five penalty points in just the first race of the 2021 F1 season. Hill offers a more spiritual solution to Vettel's problems. "He (Vettel) needs to see a mystic and go and have some sort of evil spirit removed from him," Hill told the F1 Nation podcast. "What’s happening to him is awful to watch. I do feel something has got to shift in his psychological constellation. He’s done something wrong to deserve this. Hill then proceeded to offer a more logical reason for Vettel's struggles though he did compare the German's struggles to a pinata. "I think there is some sort of psychological balance tipping point thing," Hill continued. “It’s like watching that Mexican game at the party, the pinata. He is getting beaten to a pulp. I think that if you fall on your heels, if you feel a little bit tentative about anything, it’s like a rugby tackle, you cannot go in half-baked. "He’s feeling like that the punishment he’s been getting and the bruising he’s been getting has been worrying him. I’m afraid it just gets worse, it has to be a kinda jettisoning of all those bad, negative feelings. "Once he’s done that, he’s got all the ability in the world. He could race at the front with Lewis and with Max." Vettel must do something to reverse the current slide he is experiecing. The once brilliant German has entered a period of continueous decline over the past three seasons and one wonders if he will have the necessary mental fortitude to continue racing at the highest level.
