Max Verstappen has been handed a 10 second time penalty for the late collision with Lando Norris
Verstappen did look set for a comfortable win at the Red Bull Ring, but a slow final pit-stop on Lap 52 allowed Norris to close to within two seconds of the leader.
Norris then tried for multiple laps to pass the Red Bull, being unable to do so, running wide at Turn 3.
However, on Lap 64 at Turn 3, Norris moved to the outside, but Verstappen covered him off, the front-right of the McLaren colliding with the rear-left of the Red Bull, giving both drivers a puncture.
This put Norris out of the race as Verstappen drove back to the pits, with George Russell taking the win for Mercedes.
Oscar Piastri finished second, Carlos Sainz third with Lewis Hamilton fourth.
Verstappen finished fifth, but the 10-second penalty did not mean he lost a place as he was 23s ahead of Nico Hulkenberg at the flag.
