Verstappen points to challenges in Miami: It's not going to be easy

Just days after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, the F1 circus heads on to Miami. Max Verstappen continues to lead the World Championship, but the Red Bull driver is not expecting an entirely straightforward weekend in Florida.

Max Verstappen believes there will be some challenges ahead during the upcoming Miami Grand Prix weekend. The Dutchman arrives into the fifth weekend of the 2023 F1 season as the championship leader, though Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez has edged closer in the standings following his Sprint and race victories last time out in Azerbaijan. Verstappen was the winner of the inaugural Formula 1 race in Miami in 2022 and, while he is looking forward to returning to the venue, the World Champion admits that the warmer temperatures in Florida can pose a big challenge.

Verstappen: It's not going to be easy

"I'm looking forward to Miami, it was a very physical track and also really hot there last year, so we need to be prepared for that," Verstappen said ahead of the event. "It's definitely not going to be easy. It's quite a complex circuit and I think they resurfaced the track again this year so let's see how that impacts our performance." While there could be challenges to face during F1's visit to the Miami International Autodrome, Verstappen is looking forward to seeing the special fan-designed livery that Red Bull will run . "Our fans also designed the livery this weekend, so I'm excited to see what that looks like!" he added.
