Verstappen makes ominous admission for the rest of F1 season

Could Red Bull win every race in the 2023 season? The possibility has been thrown around after they dominated the first six races of the season.

Max Verstappen has made the first admission that he believes Red Bull can win every race in 2023 Formula 1 season. The team has dominated the first six races of the season having taken the win at each track so far, with the margins being over 20 seconds at each when finishing under green flag conditions. No team has ever won every race in a season in the history of F1, either due to reliability or driver error. This has been made even more difficult with the increase in races, which hit a peak in 2022. While Verstappen believes Red Bull can do it on "pure pace", he suspects that there are too many outside factors that could affect their chances. "With how it looks at the moment I think we can, but that's very unlikely to happen," he told media, including RacingNews365.com . "There are always things that go wrong or you have retirements or whatever. But on pure pace, I think at the moment it looks like it. "[However] we will always get the tracks where maybe it doesn't work out exactly or whatever bad luck in qualifying, you make your own mistakes."

Verstappen: Dominance of one team nothing new in F1

There are some concerns about Red Bull's dominance affecting F1's new-found popularity off the back of Netflix's Drive to Survive documentary. Team bosses including Toto Wolff have said that it would be wrong to introduce regulations design to make F1 more competitive. Verstappen is also not worried about Red Bull's all-conquering pace, given the history of teams that have gone on to win the majority of races in successive seasons. "About the dominance, I mean we've always seen this in F1, it's nothing new. I think the longer you leave the regulations the same, the closer people will get. So maybe this is something we need to look at," he added. "You have the odd year, or maybe two years, where there are two teams fighting, maybe potentially a third team. But overall when you look back at the 80s, the 90s, 2000s and early-2010s to all the way until 2020, it's been pure dominance of certain teams."
