Max Verstappen believes that Red Bull will have to achieve a "careful balance" in their car set-up for success at the Formula 1 Canadian Grand Prix. The Dutchman arrives into the event off the back of another victory in Spain, a weekend in which he claimed the race win, took pole position and topped the timesheets of every practice session. Verstappen has also extended his lead in the World Championship standings to 53 points over teammate Sergio Perez, while Red Bull have voiced their hopes of achieving a record 100th win in Montreal. However, Verstappen acknowledges that perfecting the balance will be important in defining their chances.
Verstappen on 'careful balance' needed
"It's always nice to go back to Montreal, it's a great city and the fans are great there," Verstappen said ahead of the event. "The track is very unique because you actually get to ride some old school kerbs and the scenery is pretty cool too. "The car set-up has to be a careful balance between straight-line speed and being able to run on the kerbs well, we have to find a good trade-off." Having won at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in 2022, Verstappen is hopeful of repeating that feat this time around. "Of course, last year's win is still in my mind so hopefully we can do something similar this weekend," the two-time World Champion added.
