Max Verstappen has hit issues in second practice ahead of the 2024 F1 Canadian Grand Prix after reporting that he could smell smoke.
The reigning world champion returned to the pit lane and was pushed into his garage, where the caution tape was put up.
The caution tape was put in place across his side of the Red Bull garage as he reported an ERS issue.
Verstappen quickly jumped clear of his RB20, which Red Bull are not allowed to touch until it is clarified whether it is an issue with the ERS.
It has been confirmed that Verstappen will not complete any further action in second practice. Interestingly, the 26-year-old had taken a new power unit for this weekend.
Red Bull has since confirmed that it is an ERS issue with the No.1 car.
