Verstappen and Leclerc move up the grid as another driver gets penalised

Yuki Tsunoda has joined a long list of drivers with engine-related grid penalties at the Belgian Grand Prix, promoting Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc, among others.

Max Verstappen and Charles Leclerc have gained places on the Belgian Grand Prix grid before the start of the race due to engine penalties for Yuki Tsunoda. AlphaTauri driver Tsunoda has taken on a new internal combustion engine, turbocharger, MGU-H and MGU-K – all the fifth of his three-element limit for the season. The various changes have been made without the approval of FIA Technical Delegate Jo Bauer, meaning Tsunoda moves from 13th on the grid to the pit lane.

Verstappen and Leclerc gain spots on the grid

As a result, F1 title rivals Verstappen and Leclerc move up to 14th and 15th on the grid respectively, with Valtteri Bottas slotting ahead of them. Esteban Ocon, Lando Norris, Zhou Guanyu and Mick Schumacher are the other drivers to move up the order with Tsunoda's pit lane start.
