Organisers of the Qatar Grand Prix are set to move the event to a different location in 2023, when the country's 10-year deal to host an F1 race begins. It was confirmed earlier on Thursday that Qatar will replace the cancelled Australian Grand Prix on the 2021 calendar, using the Losail International Circuit. The 16-turn, 5.380km Losail track has hosted the likes of MotoGP, the Superbike World Championship and the World Touring Car Championship since opening in 2004. However, RacingNews365.com understands that venue options are being considered for the future. After a break in 2022, due to hosting the football World Cup, Qatar will join the F1 calendar on a permanent basis from 2023, with the venue yet to be confirmed. Unless the motorcycle-focused Losail track is altered, the event is likely to move elsewhere, with a street track along the Doha Corniche being mooted. Qatar becomes the fourth Gulf event on the F1 calendar, joining Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Abu Dhabi.
