Two drivers suffer shock Q2 exits in Las Vegas qualifying

The Las Vegas Grand Prix qualifying session hasn't been a smooth one for every driver, with two major names dropping out early.

Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton and Red Bull's Sergio Perez failed to advance into the final stage of qualifying in Las Vegas. Hamilton ended the session in 11th place, missing the cut-off for Q3 by just 0.028s. It marked just the third time this season that Hamilton failed to advance into Q3 after suffering Q2 exits earlier this year in Miami and the Netherlands. Joining him in the drop zone is Perez, who wasn't on the track as the clock ticked to zero with several drivers behind him improving up the order. The Red Bull driver was shuffled out of the top 10 and classified in 12th, behind Hamilton at the end of the session. It's the ninth time this year that Perez has failed to participate in Q3 amid a difficult campaign for the Mexican driver. Both Hamilton and Perez are currently competing for second place in the Drivers' Championship, with Perez leading by 32 points.
