Yuki Tsunoda has caused the first red flag of the British Grand Prix weekend by beaching his RB minutes into Free Practice 1.
Rounding Luffield, Tsunoda lost control of his car, spinning into the gravel and being unable to drive away, leading to the suspension of the session to allow recovery vehicles to recover the stricken machine.
The Japanese racer was sixth in the early times at a Silverstone circuit described by Lando Norris's engineer as having the same level of grip as a "winter testing day in Barcelona."
Mercedes duo George Russell and Lewis Hamilton topped the times when the session was suspended after 10 minutes.
