Yuki Tsunoda has thanked Sergio Perez for lending a voice of support to the Japanese rookie during a tough weekend. Having had a tough baptism of fire at AlphaTauri, Tsunoda is starting to emerge from under the cloud of poor form that resulted in Red Bull moving him to Italy in a bid to help him focus under the supervision of AlphaTauri team boss Franz Tost. Speaking on Thursday in Austria, Tsunoda revealed Sergio Perez had sent him messages of support. “Sergio gives me a lot of advice, especially after France or Monaco he gave me messages after I had a really bad weekend,” Tsunoda told select members of the media, including RacingNews365 , in Austria. “He messaged me advice and positive words, which makes me more motivated, so thank you to Sergio." Tsunoda said he also has a good relationship with Max Verstappen, saying the quartet of Red Bull contracted drivers all get along well. “Of course, Max, we have four drivers from Red Bull, we have a really good relationship and I will still keep pushing to improve and [be] inspired from them.” Tsunoda revealed that he is also trying to learn as much as possible from experienced teammate Pierre Gasly, but that the French driver stops short of offering direct wisdom. “I mean, I didn’t get direct advice from Pierre, like when we normally chat it’s not about racing,” said Tsunoda. “But I just watch him for data, and I can see also how he’s approaching on the radio and I am watching those things to improve myself, inspire from him and if there’s anything I can take I just always try.”
