Tsunoda hopeful of a strong weekend despite changes to power unit

The AlphaTauri driver was forced to change components on his power unit after a problem which kept him in the garage for most of Friday morning.

Yuki Tsunoda remains optimistic about his chances even though he has had to take on a second MGU-K and energy store at the Emilia Romagna GP. Tsunoda completed just 11 laps and finished at the bottom of the time sheets in FP1 but bounced back with a strong afternoon practice session to somewhat make up for his lack of running. "I didn’t manage to complete many laps during FP1, due to an issue, and only managed four push laps in total but the car felt good whilst I was out," Tsunoda told the press. "The team fixed the issue during the break and I was able to build-up my pace in FP2 as I continued to push more – hopefully I’ll be able to improve again in tomorrow’s practice session ahead of qualifying. Tsunoda set the seventh quickest time in the afternoon and feels he still learnt a lot from his running on Friday despite the issues. "I’ve completed a lot of laps here pre-season, but I think I still managed to gain a lot from the sessions today. "I particularly learnt about tyre management around this circuit and have a lot of interesting data from the Softs that I can now go and analyse."
