Toto Wolff could not resist the urge to make a joke at Kimi Antonelli's expense after the Italian flirted with a track limits penalty at the Singapore Grand Prix.
Antonelli came precariously close to picking up a five-second time penalty during the 62-lap race at the Marina Bay Street Circuit, reaching his final warning.
It has been a persistent issue for the 20-year-old in what will become his first F1 drivers' championship-winning season, and race engineer Peter Bonnington was heard stressing the importance of not overly pushing the limits over team radio.
It ultimately would not have mattered, with Antonelli taking the chequered flag in third, 16 seconds ahead of Lando Norris in fourth.
Antonelli's penchant for trick limits strikes is perhaps his last significant rough edge for Mercedes to smooth over, and Wolff was quick to address it after the race.
The Mercedes team principal used humour to defuse his underlying point, suggesting that Antonelli needed a pillow on his seat to help see the white lines of the circuit edge.
"Kimi, well driven. Well done," Wolff said over team radio before getting in the playful dig.
"Maybe we need to have a little cushion under you; have you sit higher with the track limits, but it was very good."
Sky Sports F1's Martin Brundle also enjoyed the comment, adding that Wolff "never wastes an opportunity" on broadcast.
