Pourchaire began his motorsport career in karting in 2010 and remained active in it until 2017. In 2013, he became champion in the French Minime Championship, a feat he repeated in 2014 in the Cadet class. In 2015, he took the title in the Cadet class of the National Series Karting. The year 2016 marked his national championship in the OK Junior class, where he also made his international debut with third places in both the German championship and the world championship of the same class. In 2017, he took a win in the European OK Championship and finished third in the South Garda Winter Cup.

Theo Pourchaire Formula 4

In 2018, Pourchaire made the switch to formula racing, in which he made his debut in the French Formula 4 championship. As he was not yet 16, he could not earn points in the main championship and his results only counted for the junior class. He dominated this class with conviction by winning 16 out of 21 races, accumulating 408.5 points to become champion. Moreover, he took an overall victory in the second race at Spa-Francorchamps.

In 2019, Pourchaire switched to the ADAC Formula 4 championship, in which he drove for the US Racing-CHRS team. He was also included in the talent programme of Formula 1 team Sauber, which at the time was known as Alfa Romeo. He won four races at the Red Bull Ring, the Nürburgring (twice) and the Sachsenring, and also stood on the podium in eight other races. With 258 points, he crowned himself champion in this class, just seven points ahead of number two, Dennis Hauger.

Theo Pourchaire Formula 3

In 2020, Pourchaire made his Formula 3 debut in the FIA Formula 3 championship, racing for ART Grand Prix. He took his first win at the Red Bull Ring after an incident between leaders Liam Lawson and Jake Hughes. In the following race at the Hungaroring, he took his second victory. During the season, he was on the podium in six other races, including the last four races of the season. With 161 points, he finished second in the championship, just three points behind Oscar Piastri. At the end of the year, he made his debut in Formula 2 with team BWT HWA Racelab during the last two race weekends at the Bahrain International Circuit as Jake Hughes' replacement.

Theo Pourchaire Formula 2

In 2021, Pourchaire made his full-time debut in Formula 2 at ART Grand Prix. He took pole position and victory at the Circuit de Monaco and a second win at the Autodromo Nazionale Monza. Thanks to his win, he became the youngest ever winner in Formula 2. During the rest of the season, he only finished on the podium at the Sochi Autodrom, but he did almost always finish in the top 10. With 140 points, he finished fifth in the championship.

In 2022, Pourchaire remained active in Formula 2 with ART. He started the season strongly with victories in Bahrain and at the Autodromo Enzo e Dino Ferrari, which temporarily put him in the lead in the championship. During the rest of the season, however, he experienced a lot of mechanical bad luck and only managed to win at the Hungaroring. Besides his victories, he achieved four more podium finishes, resulting in second place in the standings with 164 points, behind Felipe Drugovich.

In 2023, Pourchaire will compete in Formula 2 for a third year in a row. He will once again drive for ART. His teammate is Victor Martins.

Theo Pourchaire Formula 1

Pourchaire made his Formula 1 debut for Alfa Romeo Sauber during the first free practice session of the United States Grand Prix on 21 October 2022. He set a time of 1:40.175 and finished eighteenth.

Theo Pourchaire joined the Sauber Academy in 2020. Since then, he has been part of the Alfa Romeo-Sauber team. In 2023, he became the third driver behind Zhou Guanyu and Valtteri Bottas.

Theo Pourchaire to Indycar and WEC

In 2024, the Frenchman made the switch to IndyCar with Arrow McLaren, where he finished 28th. This year he will be a reserve driver for Peugeot in the WEC.
