As well as the usual on-track action, every F1 season sees the drivers come up with some impressive helmet designs along the way. Some opt to bring one-off versions to mark a special event. For example, Max Verstappen chose a look inspired by his father Jos Verstappen at their home race, the Dutch Grand Prix, while Sebastian Vettel paid a moving tribute to the late Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz in Mexico. With many beautiful helmets to choose from, it is difficult to select the best, but RacingNews365.com has rounded up some of our favourite designs from the 2022 Formula 1 season.
Max Verstappen, Zandvoort
For his home race at Zandvoort, Max Verstappen decided to run a design based on father Jos Verstappen's helmet when he was an F1 driver himself.

A special helmet for Zandvoort and this one is very personal for me Returning here as a World Champion is a great moment for me to appreciate all the effort my dad put into my career. That’s why we made a new version of his iconic design. 1:2 & 1:4 🔗 https://t.co/KEopNGGUyU pic.twitter.com/F7lBobTzEq — Max Verstappen (@Max33Verstappen) August 30, 2022
Esteban Ocon, Austin
"In the land of superheroes..." Esteban Ocon opted for a Spiderman helmet over the United States Grand Prix weekend, featuring a predominantly red colour scheme, a web and a spider.

Lando Norris, Miami
It is a simple idea; turn a helmet that is almost round anyway into a basketball. However, the result is even more impressive than it initially sounds, with Lando Norris wearing this design for the inaugural Miami Grand Prix.

Lewis Hamilton, Brazil
After being made an honorary citizen of Brazil, it was inevitable that Lewis Hamilton would bring a very special design to the event at Interlagos.

Valtteri Bottas, Australia
For F1's return Down Under, Valtteri Bottas wanted to create a hot weather-inspired helmet. The design was created by his Australian girlfriend, cyclist Tiffany Cromwell.

Mick Schumacher, Japan
Artwork or helmet? Mick Schumacher's impressive piece brought for the Japanese Grand Prix – featuring cherry blossom, considered the national flower of the country – certainly blurs the lines.

Max Verstappen, 2022
While it may not be the most exceptional helmet, the gold colour scheme and number 1 representing the World Championship win on Max Verstappen's 2022 design are still striking. It seems likely that a similar design may be carried through to 2023.

Sebastian Vettel, Mexico
Following the death of Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz, Sebastian Vettel came to Mexico with a poignant tribute to his former employer. Aston Martin also deserve an honourable mention: Vettel was allowed to wear a Red Bull helmet while racing for the British racing stable.
