Max Verstappen has revealed the advice he has given Nyck de Vries amid recent pressure on the AlphaTauri driver. Following a disappointing start to his debut full-time season in Formula 1, speculation mounted over de Vries' future following the Miami Grand Prix, a race in which he suffered a first-lap incident with Lando Norris. While the Dutchman has since earned praise from Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko for his improved performances , Verstappen spoke prior to this of the fact that all drivers – including de Vries – are under pressure.
Verstappen's advice to de Vries
When asked if he talks to de Vries much or has offered any advice following his struggles, Verstappen told media, including RacingNews365.com : "There's not a lot to talk about. "From his side, [he needs to] just focus on the driving. We are all under pressure to deliver and be at the best we can be. "Of course when you're at the beginning of your career in F1, you want to start off really well. "When that's not the case, I think [that] by trying even harder, it's not going to work. [So you need to] just focus on your job, try to learn, try to be better, but don't overcomplicate things. "I've said this to him. He knows that, he knows it himself. He just needs to get a good result. I think that will help a lot for him. "He knows what he has to do. It just needs to click, and hopefully it will happen very soon."
