Szafnauer: Vettel is as motivated as he's ever been

Aston Martin team principal Otmar Szafnauer believes the Silverstone-based team will bring out the best in Sebastian Vettel and make him enjoy racing again.

Otmar Szafnauer is confident that the Aston Martin racing team will see the best of Sebastian Vettel. Sebastian Vettel spent six seasons at Ferrari failing to add to his four world titles. Despite becoming Ferrari's third most winning driver in its illustrious history, the German's time at the Italian marque was largely deemed a failure. Vettel now races for the Aston Martin team and his new team principal is optimistic that the former world champion will recapture his form at the British team. "I am very confident that we will get Seb to his best level that he can be," Szafnauer told RTL. "I think he will prove to the world that with the right environment, with the right motivation, the fun in racing coming back, he will do a great job. "Seb is as motivated as he has ever been. He is very inquisitive, he asks us a lot of questions, he compares how we operate & how we go about our job here with what he has learned in the past. "Seb will definitely help us understand the areas where the other teams that have won championships do it better or different than we do and then he will help us improve those areas." Contesting the 2020 season under the Racing Point banner, the team finished fourth in the constructor's standings taking their first win at the Bahrain Grand Prix. The team will be looking to build on that momentum in 2021.
