Stroll triggers red-flag early in Italian GP second practice

The Aston Martin driver ground to a halt on his first flying lap at Monza.

Lance Stroll triggered a red flag on his first lap of the Italian Grand Prix weekend. The Aston Martin driver missed first practice at Monza as Felipe Drugovich took over the AMR23 to fulfil one of the mandatory young driver sessions. But on his first hot lap of the weekend, Stroll's car suffered a failure while approaching the Ascari chicane, coming to a halt on the run from the exit of the high-speed chicane. The Canadian was stuck in eighth gear as the car ground to a halt, and despite efforts from the team to try and find a solution to get him going again, Stroll was wheeled off the track by marshals. The team reported that Stroll's car had suffered a "fuel system issue." Drugovich finished the first session 18th with teammate Fernando Alonso sixth.
