Stroll escapes FIA punishment after Monaco investigation

The Canadian has kept his 14th on the grid ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix.

Lance Stroll has escaped penalty from the FIA race stewards after missing the weighbridge during Monaco Grand Prix qualifying. The Aston Martin driver had failed to advance to Q3 despite the car possessing the pace to help Fernando Alonso to a front-row start. But the Canadian's day almost went from bad to worse when being summoned to the stewards having missed the weighbridge midway through Q2. Stroll arrived at his garage and had his car fitted with cooling fans and was lifted onto trolley wheels in order to be pushed back down the pit lane. After the investigation, the stewards' report read: "The stewards heard from the driver of Car 18 [Stroll], a team representative and reviewed video and in-car video evidence. "The stewards are satisfied that the team followed the procedure in bringing the car back to the weighbridge without working on the car and take no further action." Stroll will start the Monaco GP from 14th on the grid.
