The start of the 2024 Indianapolis 500 will be delayed owing to thunderstorms in the area.
Heavy rain has been forecast for race day in Indiana with the green flag set for 12:45pm ET, but given lightning strikes within the eight-mile radius, IMS has taken the decision to delay the pre-race activities, including the singing of "Back Home Again in Indiana."
As a result, the start of the 200-lap race has also been delayed, with IMS set to communicate new timings when they are available.
Sunset is at 9pm ET, with the race taking three hours to complete, and 90 minutes needed for the track to dry.
Kyle Larson has also named his "priority" for the race, with the NASCAR Cup ace attempting double duty - the weather threatening those plans.
