Sold: Verstappen helmet fetches big money

Online auction house Catawiki did good business in 2020. The helmet of Max Verstappen was one of the showpieces and sold for a considerable amount.

No, Max Verstappen was not in need of money. However, someone close to him offered it to him, although it is unclear who. One of his helmets ended up in the online showcase of auction house Catawiki. The helmet fetched a hefty sum: €24,000. The helmet was checked beforehand by experts on its authenticity and it was established that it was indeed a helmet of the Dutch Formula 1 driver. By the way, it was not the most expensive item bought by a Dutchman. A Mercedes-Benz 170 S A Cabriolet from 1950 fetched no less than €113,000.
