Sergio Perez has officially confirmed his first test with Cadillac F1 as the team gears up for its inaugural Formula 1 campaign in 2026.

The veteran Mexican driver will be leading Cadillac's entry into the pinnacle of motorsport alongside Valtteri Bottas, forming an experienced partnership with over 500 GP starts between them.

With F1's newest team having bases in both the United States and England, Perez's immediate schedule features significant travelling between the two countries.

Speaking at a Los Angeles Dodgers event, Perez outlined that he will be heading to England next week to continue preparations for next season, and drive an F1 car.

"Next week I will be in Charlotte and in England," said Perez. "For me, it's important to drive this year, especially for the neck, so that my body adapts again to what's going to happen in 2026.

"I will train in the simulator and there are plans for me to test an F1 car."

Perez's testing programme is anticipated to be conducted in an old Ferrari F1 car, given Cadillac will be a customer outfit of the Italian manufacturer.

Specific dates for the former Red Bull driver's first F1 test in Cadillac colours remain undisclosed.
