Pierre Gasly is looking likely to start the Italian Grand Prix from the pit lane after his car was referred to the stewards after qualifying.

Gasly ended the qualifying session from Monza in 19th place, with Alpine suffering a double Q1 exit as Franco Colapinto failed to escape the drop zone.

FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer highlighted Alpine did not cover Gasly's car two hours after qualifying had come to an end.

This is in breach of Article 40.6 of the sporting regulations which outlines that all cars “must be covered and ready for FIA seals to be applied” within two hours of the chequered flag.

It is the same infringement that befell Haas last weekend at Zandvoort, when the team carried out a power unit change.

Gasly is likely being fitted with new components, and as it breaches parc fermé conditions, he will be relegated to the pit lane.

He is set to join Racing Bulls' Isack Hadjar in the slow lane, who confirmed after qualifying that he would likely undergo a power unit change.
