Carlos Sainz and Sergio Perez have both been summoned to the race stewards ahead of qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix. Ferrari's Sainz will be forced to defend his case after an investigation was called over his alleged unnecessary impeding of Lance Stroll at Turn 19. The incident happened 21 minutes into Saturday afternoon's FP3 session, only a matter of hours prior to qualifying. Meanwhile, Perez – who topped the timing sheets of the hour – is alleged to have impeded George Russell at the same corner.
Verstappen, Russell, Zhou and Stroll also summoned
Russell (Mercedes) Max Verstappen (Red Bull), Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) and Guanyu Zhou (Alfa Romeo) have also been summoned to the stewards ahead of qualifying. Stroll will make the trip to the stewards' office to offer his take on his incident with Sainz, while Zhou, F1's only rookie of 2022, is alleged to have impeded Verstappen at Turn 14 during FP3. Russell and Verstappen are being called as part of the investigations into both Perez and Zhou.
