Carlos Sainz will miss the opening day of the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix weekend due to illness.
The Spaniard will not be present to fulfil media duties at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit on Wednesday as he prioritises fitness for the weekend's on-track activities.
Ferrari driver Sainz impressed in the season-opening Bahrain Grand Prix last weekend, where he finished on the podium behind Red Bull duo Max Verstappen and Carlos Sainz.
Confirming Sainz's absence from media day in Jeddah, Ferrari revealed he had returned to his hotel having initially made his way to the circuit.
It is a pivotal year for the former Toro Rosso, Renault and McLaren driver as he fights for his future on the F1 grid following the news that Lewis Hamilton will take Sainz's place at Ferrari from next season.
